^^^Distractions and Disrespect will never be tolerated in this Bio core class...
We always respect the needs of others.
***QUIZLET-Sign up for free-my user name is katman3...There are study sets always added to help with every chapter! When you sign up and find pd 1, I must accept you into the class to begin using Quizlet...

***Always bring your textbook to class unless I tell you otherwise...You can't learn if you are not prepared...
Thursday-9/29...UNF Fieldtrip...The sub will direct you to the work that I leave for you...Always respect the sub...

Tuesday-9/27...Bell work:
CW: Chemical Reactions and Enzymes...
We will learn how to 'Balance Chemical Equations'
Image result for how to balance chemical equations
In general, to balance an equation, here are the things we need to do:
  1. Count the atoms of each element in the reactants and the products.
  2. Use coefficients; place them in front of the compounds as needed.
  3. WE NEVER CHANGE OR REMOVE THE SMALL NUMBER WHICH IS ATOMS: YOU MAY ONLY ADD A LARGE COEFFICIENT IN FRONT OF AN ELEMENT...
  4. There is always an invisible 1 in atoms and in front as coefficients: We never write the number 1: IT's Invisible!
  5. Below is the first WS we will do in class called Balancing Act...
  6. Here is Tuesday's video link below...

Friday-9/23...CW: Ch 2 quiz which includes material from ch 1...20 q...Know CHON I discussed in class for macromolecules...
***Remember most material comes from my class lectures, and web page- the text is a resource only, unless specified for assignments...
**Try Quizlet for amazing memory games and my study flashcard sets...It is for 'student memory retention.....My user name is katman 3...let me know if I can help you with it...
Wednesday-9/21...Pop Quiz...Tissues...
** You must stay ahead and be prepared for any assessment...Always be prepared for the 'future' by reading ahead and follow my web page...

Monday-9/19,,test Make-ups...
We will go over test in class...Most of the learned material will come from my class lectures and reinforced by web page...The book is a reference source so don't study the book, but do study my web page...
Tuesday-9/20...Properties of H2O-Adhesion and cohesion...
Know the difference...Solutes-solvents-solution-suspension-mixture...
Here is a link to a short video on adhesion and cohesion...

On the left, is a covalent bond between H and O resulting in H2O...This is known as a POLAR molecule because the H is positive(+) and the O is negative(-) attracting each other resulting in what looks like Mickey Mouse ears: Remember this for EOC!
Friday-9/16...Ch 1-2 Test...You should have learned Ch 1 in the first 4 weeks before you came to me...Then we learned about Ch 2 and this test is 25 Q = 100 pts...
Monday-9/19...Test make-ups...
CW: Ch 2-Properties of H2O...Cohesion and Adhesion, pH...text p. 40-44...

Monday-9/12-CW: Bohr  Electron diagram...Energy levels = 2(n squared)...1st energy level holds 2 electrons, 2nd energy level = 8 electrons, 3rd energy level = 18 electrons, 4th energy level = 32 electrons max.
Here is the video we watched today on Bohr electron diagrams...

Below Left side are covalent bonds that share the electrons between H and O2,,,so energy levels are complete from sharing electrons
Below right side are Ionic bonds with transferring electrons between Sodium(Na) and Chlorine(Cl)...NaCl is salt...
